Simple Ways to Prevent Wrinkles

We can't keep wrinkles from attacking our youthful look forever, but we can ward them off just a little bit longer - if we're smart! Wrinkles occur with age for a simple reason: aging skin becomes thinner, losing its ability to divide its cells as rapidly as it once did and reducing the amount of elastin and collagen (the glue that holds our cells together) it contains.

Add to that the skin's inability to continue using fat cells to fill in any gaps and plump up your skin. While the process seems to take longer in men, it does happen eventually in everyone.

Sound like a losing battle? It doesn't have to be. There are simple ways to prevent wrinkles - at least for a while longer. Here are just a few:

. Stay out of the sun. Nothing damages the skin and causes it to wrinkle like the sun. The number one cause of premature wrinkling and sagging, the sun's powerful rays should be avoided as much as possible. That doesn't mean never going outside on a sunny day, but it does mean taking some precautions like: wearing sunscreen; a hat, sunglasses and longer sleeves.

. Eat a well-balanced diet. They say you are what you eat and that's very true when it comes to the skin. Fail to give your skin the right mix of important vitamins and nutrients and you'll starve it of what it needs to replenish those aging skin cells to help you maintain that youthful look. Eat plenty of vitamin rich fruits, vegetables, fish and lean meats for a more youthful looking glow.

. Drink plenty of water. The skin thirsts for water just like the rest of your body (maybe even more). Be sure to keep it well hydrated to prevent wrinkles.

. Keep stress down. Easier said than done, keeping stress at a minimum can go a long way to preventing wrinkles.

. Stop Smoking. One of the absolute worst things you can do for your skin, smoking cigarettes dries it out, stripping it of essential nutrients to stay healthy and strong. Not to mention all of the other terrible, well known effects.

. Use only natural ingredients on your skin. Avoid harsh chemicals, preservatives and other irritating products on your skin. Opt for all-natural organic skin care lines featuring nutrient-rich ingredients aimed at giving your skin cells exactly what it needs to prevent wrinkles.
