The Right Fix For Your Skin Type

in Skin

When you're buying commercial skin care products, it's easy to find the formula that's designed for your specific skin type.  All you have to do is read the bottle to discover if it's useful for oily, dry, or normal skin.

When it comes to home remedies, there are no such labels to go by, and some wonderful solutions can lead to disastrous results if applied to the wrong skin type.  So, here's a few skin care suggestions specifically geared to different types of skin.

Oily Skin:  If your skin is oily, you want to draw out oil and dirt without dehydrating and stripping any natural moisture away.  Milk contains natural moisture retaining enzymes to prevent dry skin, while lemon and cucumber juice are fabulous deep cleansing and pore shrinking solutions.  Mix a couple tablespoons of cucumber juice with equal parts milk and add a few drops of freshly squeezed lemon juice.  Apply the mixture to a clean face and let rest for about five minutes before rinsing.

Dry Skin:  Dry skin needs a little tender loving care to prevent flaking, redness and itching.  A good face mask that helps rehydrate while sealing in the skins natural oils will help alleviate thirsty pores.  A great moisturizing mask is easily rendered by mashing up a very ripe banana and adding a spoonful of honey to the mixture.  Leave it on for about 10 to 20 minutes before rinsing with cool water.  Remember to apply a good moisturizing cream while face is still damp to help restore the skins natural balance.

Normal Skin:  If you're lucky enough to have normal skin, you can experiment with different natural skin care remedies.  A little papaya can freshen up your face and leave you glowing.  You won't break out from slightly acidic foods, so you can rub a little apple slice onto your face as an astringent, or even bathe your skin in tomato juice.  Normal skin types can detoxify with a little cabbage juice scrub or even citrus juice such as from an orange will give you a quick glow.

Regardless of your skin type, you don't need to spend a fortune on expensive creams and lotions to look your best all the time.  All it takes is a little research to find natural ingredients that will give you a bright and healthy complexion.
